RestorePhotos

RestorePhotos.io breathes new life into faded memories. This indie AI tool specializes in one thing—making old, blurry face photos crystal clear—and does it exceptionally well. Created by developer Hassan El Mghari, it has restored over 869,000 photos for users worldwide.

The Story Behind the Tool

Built as a passion project using Replicate's AI models and Vercel's infrastructure, RestorePhotos demonstrates how indie developers can create tools that rival expensive professional software. It's been praised by Vercel's CEO Guillermo Rauch and CTO Malte Ubl for its elegant simplicity.

What It Does Best

1. Face-Specific Restoration — AI trained specifically on facial features delivers natural-looking results without the "plastic" over-smoothing of generic enhancers
2. Blur Removal — Fixes motion blur and out-of-focus shots from early digital cameras
3. Damage Repair — Reduces scratches and fading on scanned vintage prints
4. Color Correction — Automatically adjusts faded tones to natural skin colors

• Family Historians: Save water-damaged wedding photos from the 1980s
